Vitamin B12 is known as the energy vitamin, and it is essential for many critical functions in your body, including energy production, supporting your immune system , and helping to regulate the formation of red blood cells. Vitamin B12 is present only in animal sources of food. A deficiency can result in less than optimal nervous system function, a tendency toward nervousness, and even less-than-optimal eye health. The older you get the more your digestive system breaks down. Specifically the lining of your stomach gradually loses its ability to produce hydrochloric acid which releases vitamin B 12 from your food. The use of antacids or anti ulcer drugs will also lower your stomach acid secretion and decrease your ability to absorb vitamin B 12. Women who consume little or no meat or animal based foods are the most likely group of women to have low B12 levels, along with women who have intestinal disorders that prevent them from absorbing sufficient amounts of B12. Neural tube defects are a class of birth defects affecting the brain and spinal cord. Low folate levels are a known risk factor for neural tube defects. Because Vitamin B12 comes from foods of animal origin, women who adhere to a strict vegan diet may be at risk for a B12 deficiency. It is advisable for women with digestive disorders that interfere with the absorption of foods to consult a physician before getting pregnant. Starting at the mouth, the digestive system helps provide the energy your body needs to perform its many functions. Passing through the esophagus the bolus is dropped into the stomach where gastric glands, one secreting digestive enzymes and the other secreting hydrochloric acid, begin to break the food down into smaller pieces. It is in the small intestine where a major part of digestion and absorption occurs. The intestinal wall releases enzymes which digest proteins, fats and carbohydrates. The lymphatics transport the fats around the body and finally release them into the bloodstream. Blood takes sugars and amino acids to the liver via the portal vein. The Connection between Success and Business
External success, whether personally or for your business begins with success on the inside. The easiest and most effective way to improve internally is through the practice of continuous, measured self-improvement. The Japanese call this constant and never-ending process of improvement Kaizen. The essence of the entrepreneurial spirit is based upon mental toughness and the courage to accept risk. Without a healthy willingness to take on risk, none of us would have pursued this entrepreneurial path. The part I suggest we concentrate on is the mental toughness that comes from the willingness to slug it out day after day in the trenches, making incremental progress. That type of progress is not sexy and many times it isn’t fun, but it is crucial for laying the foundation for success and for taking that risk when an opportunity presents itself for greater rates of growth. Join the entrepreneur movement. Stimulate the economy. Spread the word. We want people to see and share this video and feel one of two things. Either they are inspired to go out and do something they felt they couldn't do before, to create the job they've always wanted and go out and start that for themselves; or, they're reminded of why they're doing what they do every day. There are a lot of challenges, a lot of ups and downs, and sometimes it's just nice to remember what the larger impact is. On what entrepreneurs should remember during these difficult times: Just go out there and do it. There are a lot of people saying no, saying it can't be done and it's a bad time in the economy. There are a lot of no's around. People don't go out there and do what they want because they're scared. History of the internet is an animated documentary explaining the inventions from time-sharing to filesharing, from Arpanet to Internet. The history is told using the PICOL icons on picol.org , which are available for download soon. On blog.picol.org you can get news about this project.
