Both Women and Men suffer from Domestic Violence

Health Effects, Resources and Mental Health!
For women, the negative health effects of being the victim of violence from a male partner go far beyond the injuries they inflict. Today's research demonstrates how violence against women at the hands of a male intimate partner can produce lasting negative effects on physical and mental health that remain long after the violence has ceased. If you are currently living with a partner who is abusive, be prepared to leave at a moment's notice. Identify safe places in the house where you can go if your abuser starts attacking, preferably a room with a window to the outside and/or a telephone. Develop a code word you can use with friends, neighbors, and family to let them know when the police need to be called.
Many men actually do experience domestic violence, although we don't hear about it often. They often don't tell and we don't ask. We want to get the message out to men who do experience domestic violence that they are not alone and there are resources available to them. Men typically did not leave the relationship after one violent incident; most who had experienced non-physical violence had done so on multiple occasions, often over several years, with the same partner. Men who reported experiencing domestic violence had more emotional and mental health problems than those who had not, especially older men, the researchers found.
Regular exercise can really help to give your mental health a boost. Find something you enjoy sport, swimming, walking, dancing or cycling and then just do it. It may be hard work, but it is worth the effort. Regular exercise can help you feel more positive. If too much busyness is getting you down, make time to relax. Fit things into your day that help you unwind, like listening to music, reading or watching films. Even 10 minutes of downtime during a busy day can make all the difference and help you manage stress better. All kinds of creative things can help when you are anxious or low. They can also increase your confidence. Music, writing, painting, poetry, cooking, gardening experiment until you find something that suits you.
Working up a sweat while performing household chores may not just improve the cleanliness of your home, but your mental health too. Those who suffer from stress or anxiety may be less likely to take part in physical activity in the first place. Just 20 minutes of sustained exercise a week - from cleaning to jogging - can impact upon depression. The more strenuous and frequent the activity, the greater the effect. Another study in the journal also found such exercise among the middle-aged and elderly may delay the ageing process.
